This study explores the relationship between socio-economic conditions and rising crime in Garhi Khairo, a town in Jacobabad District, Sindh, Pakistan. Residents of the area have expressed growing concern over safety and the effectiveness of law enforcement. The research aims to identify the root causes of crime, focusing on community perceptions and socio-economic factors. Data was collected through structured interviews and questionnaires based on selected variables, supported by literature review. Findings reveal that poverty and unemployment significantly impact crime rates. However, lack of education, drug abuse, and weak law enforcement were found to have no statistically significant effect. The study is limited to Garhi Khairo and may not represent wider regional patterns. It concludes that targeted socio-economic interventions addressing poverty and unemployment could be effective in reducing crime in the area, while other assumed factors need reevaluation.
